Trekking is my second love. I always check my holiday calendar looking for long leaves. Whenever I come to know about the short treks, I always try to do it on weekends or weekends plus one day. Through an online search, I came to know about Nag Tibba Trek. So I started searching a some important information about it. These are my search query
- Where Nag Tibba is located?
- How many days required to complete Nag Tibba Trek?
- Can I complete this trek in 1 day?
- What to carry while attempting Nag Tibba?
We all search like this. Right!
Let me tell you my story and I will try to cover maximum information about this trek. This information will help you in future if you plan for the trek.
It took 8 hours to reach Pantwari from Delhi. Pantwari is the base camp for Nag tibba trek. It is a small village and you can find a number of local guides, as the main source of income for the natives is this trek. You can also roam around this village and get all the basic items for your necessities.

It’s 2 pm and after a long 8 hours of driving, it’s not possible for me to start the trek. So, I rented a room and paid ₹1000 for a room. After an hour of rest, we visited a small dhaba for chai and samosa. The village is quite normal and once you enter the village the people start asking you if you need a guide.
Well, trekking guides usually charge somewhere close to ₹2000 for the trek. So we also hired a local guide, just because I was with my wife and it is always wise to take local help in unknown terrain.

The next day we started early at 6 am. Initially, the terrain was challenging, maybe because I was doing it after two months. But eventually, the elevation comes to normal grade. We both enjoyed the terrain, there were two small stops in case you needed water or food. It is advisable to carry at least two litres of water because there is no water source till Nag Devta temple which is the base camp of this trek.
It’s a 10 Km trek but the terrain changes frequently and it feels like you walked into a new world. After trekking four kilometers we reached a place from where we could see Pantwari village. For moving two more kilometres, we can see the snow and I was hoping to see more on the way.
It might be moderate for the first-timers but an easy trek for pro trekkers. There is no special preparation required for it. A water bottle and some snacks are needed for the way, tents are available for rent at Nag devta temple or carry your own.

By 12 we reached the base camp. It was -2 degrees and freezing cold. Mostly in the month of December, this trek touches the temperature in minus at night. The basecamp is a temple dedicated to Nag Devta and is going to our night halt. We pitched our tent placed our sleeping bags over the mats and went for a nap. After an hour when i looked outside my tent it was going to be dark and the person help us to get here lit the fire. It is twilight sun is going down and moon is rising. In such a clear sky I astonished to see the event.

At around 8 pm when we finished our dinner we experienced that the temperature was rising. I checked my temperature meter and the temperature was -3. Time to wrap ourself and go for sleep so that we start early next day.
At 3 in the morning, the temperature dropped to -5 and it was chilling cold. We both feel that we need to light up the woods now. We pitched our tent at some distance from the temple so I literally walked towards the temple to collect some wood. In the next 15 minutes, we were out of the tent and sitting in front of a bonfire.

The next time I opened my eyes and saw that it was morning and the temperature was 6 degrees. Thou the night was harsh but the morning is pleasant. It’s time for us to start the trek. So we had breakfast and got ready for our destination. It is just 2 kilometres remaining to complete the trek. Because of the proper rest and good food, we have all the vitals are perfect.

It took us another 90 minutes to complete the trek and at 9 am we were at the height of 3022 meters. The view from the top is awesome. Snow spreads every corner of the top. The best part when I reach the top is the complete silence. It can only be felt!!
